Bloomington Hospital Teaches Safety for A.R.K.
February 16, 2009 by piversen · Leave a Comment
Last Wednesday, the children in A.R.K. received a valuable lesson in safety from Bloomington Hospital. Lori Gill, came and spoke to the children about first aid and safety while using gauze to teach a fun lesson on wrapping wounds. She also brought bags full of goodies for the ARK kids: magnets, tattoos and band-aids.
Gill is from Bloomington Hopsital’s Community Training Center, and is the latest member of the Bloomington community to take part in the A.R.K. guest speaker series. This semester the children are learning about public safety
and have already received disaster preparedness lessons from Courtney Wiesenauer an AmeriCorps VISTA volunteer at the Red Cross.
A.R.K. is The Salvation Army’s open-door ministry for children in Kindergarten through 12th grade. All youth are welcome Wednesday nights starting at 6:14 p.m. to shoot hoops and hang out while learning important lessons from the Bible and community members.
