The children in The Salvation Army’s after school program were amazed by members of the Beta Gamma chapter of Alpha Kappa Psi (AKPsi) one of the United States leading business fraternities at one of the leading business programs worldwide.
In the span of two days, members of AKPsi taught lessons on how to construct simple birdfeeders from locally available materials and a craft reminding the children about the change of seasons. Meanwhile, other AKPsi members occupied children with rousing games in The Salvation Army’s Community Center gym.
The Salvation Army’s After School program is a popular destination for volunteer groups like AKPsi. There is tutoring, crafts and games, all in a short time span during the afternoon. The best part is that groups like AKPsi can show their leadership in the community.
This is a nationwide trend amongst businesses struggling to cope with the donwbeat economic news; philanthropy remains a priority for corporations. It’s good business.
So, we here at The Salvation Army thank the members of Alpha Kappa Psi for their work with the children, making their and our days brighter and giving us one more reason to smile.
