Easter is a time for Celebration and, as it turns out, Generosity

Salvation Army Food Pantry Donation

As we enter Holy Week, culminating in Easter Sunday, The Salvation Army has been the recipient of great generosity from public and private donors.

A local family dropped by The Salvation Army to donate 170 pounds of food including 10 Easter hams. Although this family won’t know the recipients of their generosity, they entrusted The Salvation Army to get the food and toiletries into the homes of those that truly have need.

Bob Evans Family Restaurant also partnered with the Bloomington Corps to provide complete Easter meals to deserving families.

The Salvation Army and other area nonprofits also received an extra shipment of government commodity food which greatly helps to keep the shelves stocked as a part of the economic stimulus package. The Salvation Army received over 1,000 pounds of nonperishable food items.

Over 300 people a month come to The Salvation Army seeking assistance with food, but that’s not where we stop. William Booth founded The Salvation Army with the philosophy of “soup, soap and Salvation” and that’s just what The Bloomington Corps does.

Easter Services at The Salvation Army are great family events, where children play in the gym and participate in worship and Sunday school. It’s also a time where you can celebrate with the broader Christian family the joyful news that Jesus is Risen, proclaiming victory over death for all who believe.
