Receptionist (part time)

TITLE: Receptionist (part time)
REPORTS TO: Facility & Community Support Manager
FLSA: Non-Exempt (20 hrs/wk)

Job Objective: Assist Facility and Community Support Manager with first impressions, office organization, and guest direction.

Essential Functions: This job description should not be interpreted as all inclusive. It is intended to identify the essential functions and requirements of the position.   • Answer incoming telephone calls.  Direct to appropriate people as necessary.  Make outgoing calls.
  • Assist visitors with inquiries
  • Manage mail to include delivering outgoing mail to post office, handling incoming mail.
  • Insure tidiness and cleanliness of entry and lobby.
  • Assist with seasonal activities & fundraising.
  • Assist with food pantry.
  • Assist with mailings approved by Facility & Community Support Manager.
  • Assist with Advisory Council mailings and meeting preparation.
  • Assist with office supply stocking with necessary supplies.
  • Assist in keep main office filing and all directories up to date.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Maintain positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that fosters good relationships with co-workers, supervisor(s) and Corps visitors.  This would include but not be limited to such actions as: courteous treatment to others; respect of others’ property and person; and professional and appropriate communication to and about co-workers, supervisors and Corps visitors.

Minimum Qualifications: The requirements listed below are representative of the minimal knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required for this position.

  • Education: High School diploma and two years’ work experience
  • Experience: Combination of training and experience will be considered.  Must have basic understanding and experience in customer service.
  • Background Checks: Position requires a background check to be completed.  Findings may disqualify an individual for this position.  Realizing The Salvation Army is a member of the Christian Church, employees are expected to conduct themselves in a professional manner and project a positive image consistent with the above mission statement.  This includes appearance as well as verbal communications and other behaviors.  It should be clearly understood that nothing less will be accepted.
  • Certifications: Must have reliable transportation, a valid Driver’s License and pass TSA MVR check.
  • Skills & Abilities: Good communication & organizational skills required.  Speaking Spanish is a plus.

Physical Requirements Include: Capable of performing the above essential duties in an office environment to include:  using a computer, answering phones, etc.

Travel: Position may require occasional travel for training and/or pick-up and delivery of essential business items.

Working Conditions: Most work will be indoors in a temperature-controlled environment.
