Intensive Outpatient Treatment services are designed to empower each client to remain abstinent from alcohol, drugs, and gambling. Services focus on improving psychological and social coping skills which result in the improvement in their quality of life. Intensive Outpatient services are a natural progression for those individuals who are stepping down from Detox, Residential Treatment, or who have been diagnosed with a serious substance dependence problem.  The program offers eight to sixteen (8-16) weeks of cognitive-based group sessions, meeting three (3) times a week for three (3) hours. Groups are offered during day and evening hours to increase accessibility for clients. Intensive treatment includes, but is not limited to:

  • Relapse Prevention   10-15 weeks  meets weekly for one hour each week.  Clients will develop relapse prevention tools, skills and techniques needed to maintain abstinence.
  • Aftercare   1 hour a week  for up to 20 weeks following IOP in order to monitor clients during their continued recovery.
  • Gambling    Like most addictions, problem gambling has a profound affect on the lives of families as well as the problem gambler.  Here at The Salvation Army Harbor Light Center , we offer three levels of care for the Problem Gambler.  In-patient Detox and Residential Treatment for the gamblers with co-occurring disorders, Out-patient treatment, individual and financial counseling.  We also have family education groups for the family members that are directly affected by the problem gambler.  Click here to learn more about our gambling addiction treatment.
