Mission Statement
The Salvation Army, an international movement, is an evangelical part of the universal Christian Church. Its message is based on the Bible. Its ministry is motivated by the love of God. Its mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination.
History & Mission
The Salvation Army has served Kokomo and Howard County since 1903. This ministry has and continues to include programs and services which meet physical, emotional and social, as well as spiritual needs of the individual and family.
Anyone can join The Salvation Army! Members must recieve Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord, accept the (Bible-based) doctrines of The Salvation Army and agree to actively support the Army’s principles and work. There are 3 types of members: Commissioned Officers – ordained ministers trained for full-time service in Salvation Army College’s for Officer Training. These people dedicate their lives to the work of the Army. Each officer also belongs to a corps (local congregation) and is a soldier, as well as an officer; Soldiers - members of the congregation who are active in the local Corps-Community Center (church, fellowship, social & community services); Adherents- persons of good standing and character who, by attendance and finacial support, consider The Salvation Army to be their place of worship and service.
Behind The Salvaion Army are hundreds of thousands of wonderful people, just like you, who are concerned about and want to help those human beings who are destitute, homeless, hungry or sick … regardless of who or where they are!
