(Notes from the Corps Officers, Majors Robert & Linda Meyer)

A recent “Devotional’ writing from the electronic “pen” of Maj. Linda Meyer from a few years ago:

SOME GOOD WILL COME OF IT

(Major Linda Meyer)

“You know brother, that our visit to you was not a failure…”

1Thessalonians 2:1

The emphasis upon the “YEAR OF THE FAMILY” is appropriate; yes, even urgent.  Perhaps your corps or church may embark upon some special campaign to teach the unreached for Christ.  If you are involved at times, as we all have experiences, you may feel that the reception you found at one home or another may not have been exceptionally welcoming.  At least you perceived it that way.

One never knows, however, what a lasting favorite impression for the Gospel’s sake you may have left.  I am reminded of a neighbor across the street from our residence who persistently resisted even out taking the children along with us to Sunday School.  Despite this and visits with them “across the fence”, so to speak, in the normal course of living as neighbors, we were able to share our witness.

About a year after we moved away, a letter came sharing how both the husband and the wife had experienced dramatic changes in their lives.  Now it revealed that the young couple and children were active for the Lord, saved and church members.  “It was through your gentle encouragement which affected us even after you moved away that we found the Lord.”  And we thought our visits and efforts had been met with failure!

Do your best and trust the rest to God!

PRAYER:      “Dear God, I may not see the immediate results of my prayers, my visits, my witness, but may I confidently trust You to bring about the salvation of others in Your good time where I have faithfully planted the seed of Gospel.”
