National Salvation Army Week May 13-19
Local Salvation Army to honor members of the Armed Forces
The Salvation Army will be celebrating National Salvation Army Week May 13-19 by remembering and honoring those who are serving in the military overseas.
“It’ll be our pleasure to provide some support to our heroes by sending a little love from home. We are asking people to contact our office with the name of a family member or loved one who is serving overseas and we will send them a care package,” says Captain Gordon Hoag, local Administrator. “It’s very difficult for those serving our country to be away from family and friends. We’d like to take this opportunity to let them know we’re thinking of them and that we’re proud of what they’re doing.”
Anyone can call The Salvation Army office to submit a name. The phone number is 812-232-4081. Names will be taken through the end of May and care packages will be delivered around the fourth of July.
Donations are also being accepted for those who would like to help with providing items to send. Items of particular interest are deodorant, soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes, puzzle books and white socks. Any financial contributions will help cover the cost of purchasing supplies and shipping expenses. Monetary donations can also be made securely online.
God bless all of our brave servicemen and women.
