100 Years Ago – April 6th, 1917
100 Years ago (Today, April 6, 2017) the United States entered World War I.
53,402 Americans lost their lives in combat. Over 200,000 were wounded. It is estimated that 17 Million people died Worldwide during that “war to end all wars”
The Salvation Army “Donut Girl” served during that conflict. They gave practical Christian service to our troops at home and abroad. Ensign Helen Purviance, from Huntington, Indiana and Ensign Margaret Sheldon came up with the idea to serve them donuts. It was an immediate hit with the Doughboys.
Remember those who sacrificed their lives for our freedom. In our troubled world today take a moment to pray for peace…
