In the verse above, Jesus affirms the reality of the fact that we do experience trouble in this world. Disasters of all kinds occur every day; and vary in extremes. Sometimes, they are natural disasters. Other times, they are man-made disasters or tragedy of a personal sort. All of this most certainly troubles the heart, which is why He directs our attention to His next bit of reality even more: HE has overcome the world!
The Salvation Army exists to help those that have been affected by the troubles of this world. Devastating loss creates an immediate and pressing need to step in and assist those that desperately need to know that Jesus has overcome the trouble that they are facing. Through His love, we aim to meet the basic needs of disaster survivors by ministering His comfort through material, physical, emotional, and spiritual support. Some of our many emergency and long-term disaster recovery services include: food/hydration, shelter, cleanup, emergency communication services, restoration and rebuilding, and in-kind donation disbursement.
In addition to our temporary and long-term relief efforts, The Salvation Army is also actively involved in preparedness and training before a disaster strikes. Educating others ensures that people are properly equipped, trained, and prepared for unpredictable circumstances.
